PCOS – Unravelling the Enigma

This course is a pragmatic introduction to reproductive genetics and advances in preconception, preimplantation and prenatal genetic testing. Mastering Blastocyst Biopsy (Hands-on workshop)

This workshop will focus on the practical handling of blastocyst biopsy in a routine IVF lab procedure. With the half-day lectures and half-day hands-on trainings, participants will be able to get an overview of current blastocyst biopsy techniques:

  • Learn about different biopsy techniques
  • Learn about tubing skills
  • Get tips and experience from the experienced biopsy practitioners
  • Learn about quality control and troubleshooting for the procedure

Diagnosing Endometriosis by Ultrasound - Looking for Ultrasound Markers (Hands-on workshop)

Registration:

In this workshop, our international experts in endometriosis sonography, George Condous (Sydney), Matthew Leonardi (Canada), Sophie Piessens (Melbourne) and Alison Deslandes (Adelaide) and MRI expert Steven Knox (Adelaide) will demonstrate the techniques that are required to detect endometriosis using ultrasound and MRI and how this can help improve care for patients with fertility problems. For a smaller group a live scanning workshop will provide real time opportunities to wrok with our experts to identify lesions and improve their own scanning techniques for endometriosis.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the value of diagnosing endometriosis with ultrasound, particularly as it pertains to fertility patients

2. Obtain a theoretical understanding of the appearance of endometriosis on ultrasound

3. Gain practical scanning skills for endometriosis (Hands on session only)

How to Bring Coordination to Your Clinic

Registration:

This inaugural pre-congress course being presented by the Aspire Nursing Special Interest Group has been designed to provide participants with a practical introduction on “How to bring coordination to your clinic”. The program will comprise of presentation and interactive sessions from local and international speakers with the knowledge and skills in the area of clinical coordination and quality management within the fertility health care setting.

This half day course will provide attendees an opportunity to facilitate professional development, promote networking and exchange of ideas with Fertility nurses from across a number of the Asia Pacific Regions.

The target audience: Nurses in both Clinical and Management positions, Quality Managers

Learning objectives:

1. Attendees will develop an understanding of the importance of teamwork within the fertility setting.

2. Identify strategies for building an inclusive clinic.

3. Develop an understanding of the fundamental components of effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.

4. Gain an insight into the development of emergency protocols and contingency plans in the fertility setting.

5. Attendees will experience an Australian clinic visit - with an aim to facilitating networking and information exchange.
